  • Matt and His Boys

The Rev. Matthew Richardson was ordained in the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in January 2000, where he served as pastor of the Lower Long Cane and Troy ARP Churches. He and his wife Cristina met at Erskine College and they have been married for 27 years. Matt is a 1995 graduate of Erskine College, and earned his Masters of Divinity at Reformed Theological Seminary in 1998. He has served as an ARP pastor, ARP youth pastor, and PCA ruling elder. Matt is a former banker and received the call to become minister to Skylyn Drive ARP Church in June 2023.

Matt was raised in the ARP church as a covenant child, and became a communicant member of White Oak ARP Church (Ga.) in his youth. He came to saving faith in Jesus Christ by the grace of God due to the preaching of good pastors,, and the work of a devout and praying mother. As a teen, he came under the discipleship of sincere and caring older believers, who helped him grow in his faith in Christ and his understanding of the Reformed Faith. He regularly attended conferences and events at Bonclarken, such as Horizon, Camp Joy, World Harvest and others. Matt traveled to Mexico many times on ARP missions trips, as well as participated in the Appalachia missions trips. Both he and Cris have been on ARP missions trips to Mexico together, and have always sought to serve Christ wherever He has called them. For many years they lived in the South Carolina Lowcountry where Matt served as a Ruling Elder at Grace Coastal Church in Bluffton.

Matt and Cris have two sons, Jacob (17) and Samuel (14). Matt preaches and teaches, writes a weekly devotional study online, and is a freelance writer for a local paper. Cris is a stay-at-home-mom, who homeschools both boys while working part-time as a writer and editor for a curriculum publisher. The family loves church fellowship, travel, the outdoors, hiking in the mountains, camping, and kayaking.
